This movie introduces a new aspect to movies which uses real soldiers, instead of professional actors, to portray the characters in the film. The team of seals in the movie consists of actual soldiers in the US military portraying fictional characters in an attempt to give a real feel of what the men and women in the military experience and the challenges they face in the various missions they are sent to.
The story of the movie focuses on the efforts of the Navy Seals to save an agent of the US government who has been kidnapped. The Seals embark on the mission well aware of the dangers that face them, which is exactly what happens. They encounter various dangerous situations from which they have to pull themselves from.
The movie has good action scenes with most of the operations being based on real life events. The weapons and tactics used throughout the film are real, which adds to the adrenaline generated throughout the film. This is further enhanced by the fact that things sometimes fail to go awry when they meet unexpected situations. There is also an emotional side to the film as the soldiers say their goodbyes to their families when leaving for their missions and when they are confronted with seemingly impossible situations. One gets to get a glimpse at their struggle for survival, the gratitude of the victims they save and the difficult decisions that they have to make.
The acting is good, considering that it is actual soldiers who have been cast and thus as much as the conversations in scenes which do not involve combat seem forced, the performance is largely commendable. The effort towards directing of the movie by Mike McCoy and Scott Waugh although not extraordinary is good. The movie is generally good and the fact that the characters are portrayed by real life Seals makes it even more likeable.
