This is the follow-up to the 2008 worldwide success Journey to the Center of the Earth but this time is in 3D. It opens when a mysterious coded message is received by Sean Anderson, played by Josh Hutcherson, from an Island which supposedly exists where there should be no Island. It is made of mountains of gold, strange life forms, violent volcanoes and numerous secrets that will both catch the visitors off-guard and by surprise.
Hank, played by Dwayne Johnson, tags along his new stepson having failed in convincing him otherwise from going to this Island. They are joined by the helicopter pilot, played by Luis Guzman and his down-t- earth and vivacious daughter, played by Vanessa Hudgens. Their mission is to find the island then rescue the few inhabitants before the Island is submerged by the shockwaves being experienced, going down with all the treasures it possesses.
