This movie is about a lady, Maggie, played by Anne Hathaway who is a carefree character- not letting anything or anyone to bog her down by life inefficiencies. However, she meets her equal in Jamie, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, whose charm has consistently served him well to always get the lady he wishes. To their surprise, a relationship develops between them under the mysterious and ultimate drug – love.
It all begins in 1996 when Jamie who is an electrician loses his job after being found in a compromising position with the boss’s wife. He is however a great salesman and approaches Pfizer to be a drug representative inPittsburgh. Here is where he meets Maggie, while trying to convince to prescribe for patients the drug he sells, Zoloft instead of Prozac. Maggie on the other hand is a free spirited lady who prefers to live for the moment and enjoy all she can while she can because she has a secret most do not know about her, she is suffering from Parkinson’s disease.
At the same time, a new drug, Viagra comes into the market and makes Jamie a sales rep superstar after he sells and earns a lot from the sales. The new drug he sells creates a near frenzy after people discover its potential and they look for him instead of him looking for them like before when he sold the other drugs. Jamie however discovers Maggie’s secret and tries to find a cure for her even though she insists she does not want to be attached or pitied.
