Moonrise Kingdom tells the story of two young lovers who want to escape from the adult world. The happy story presents a boy and a girl living on a coast in New England. They get to meet in school and immediately decide that they like each other. They start sending love messages with colored crayons and although this innocent love seems inoffensive, the two youngsters actually plan to run away from home.
The action in Moonrise Kingdom takes place somewhere in the ’60s, in some sort of camp where young scouts are trained and taught about the wildlife in a natural environment. Most kids plan to run away from home at some moment or another, but this is nothing but a random wish. The two happy lovers from New England actually apply their plan.
Once they are gone, multiple groups of locals get together in an attempt to find them. The city is entirely ravaged and every corner is inspected. Even the sheriff joins the search operations. However, the problem doesn’t seem to be such a negative thing. Moonrise Kingdom presents the positive parts of such an escape. In a world where adults have nothing but fears and worries, two youngsters decide to create their own universe. It all starts like an inoffensive love with no chances to succeed, but these two kids don’t fool around with their plans. They join a kingdom of their own, far from the daily problems each individual goes through. It is definitely a story that can bring in a happy mood.
